Manchester City 6-0 Shakhtar Donetsk.

Manchester City 6-0 Shakhtar Donetsk.

Tonight’s display was a walk in the park for Manchester City, who went a goal up after 13 minutes.  A controversial penalty doubled their advantage in the first half, and it was turned into three when Sterling scored five minutes after the half-time interval. A second penalty, this time fully deserved, was won by David Silva and dispatched by Jesus for his second - City’s fourth. A late Mahrez finish after a counter-attack added to the away supporters' misery, and the scoring finally came to a close after Gabriel Jesus dinked the ball over the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute to make it 6-0. Fonseca's team had relatively little say in the match as they spent most of the 90 camped deep in their own area trying to stop the onslaught. This poor performance maintains the status quo, as Manchester City remain top of the group, while Shakhtar are rooted to the bottom.

FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 6-0 SHAKHTAR DONETSK.
