The study is Intended to identify major problems in the human resourcerndevelopment (HRO) practice of the commercial bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and suggestrnpossible solutions. the study partly confirmed the findings of previous researches inrnthat It reveals that the CBE's HRO function has problems such As Inappropriaternneed assessment, poor participation of line managers and trainers in design of HROrnprograms, absence of learning and behavioral evaluation, and lack of knowledgernand ski lls on the pmitment towards employee training and development and therernare aso improvements in the HRO process like consultation of line managers duringrntrainees' selection, revision/updating of some training programs and sponsoringrnemployees in various educational programs.
