The demand for CDMA –WLL, Wireless Local Loop, Communication system isrnhigher than wired network. The CDMA–WLL system in Addis Ababa is providingrnvoice and data communication services. Because of its fast and reliable service,rnmany customers are looking forward to be connected to the system.rnAs CDMA’s nature, each CDMA –WLL user generates interference on the otherrnusers (Self jamming). The increasing number of users is going to cause systemrncapacity limitation, unsatisfactory and degraded service quality , QoS.rnAddis Ababa CDMA-WLL system has started service provision with about 31,000rnvoice and 960 data communication users. As indicated above when the number ofrnusers increases, the service quality started degradation by dropping and blockingrncalls from the system with limited capacity allocation.rnThese problems are results of improper planning and implementation work sornthat the system needs more technical solutions to provide better service quality,rnQoS and higher system capacity.rnTo reduce the effect of the mentioned system problems, this thesis exploresrndifferent techniques and methodologies. Cell sectoring and power controllingrntechniques pointed as the main performance enhancement methods3.rn. Using Power control as the main solution, WLL system’s major problems wouldrnbe enhanced both in service quality and capacity.rnThis thesis proposes efficient power control technique based on centralized SIRrnbalancing algorithm. Performance characteristics, enhanced service quality andrnsystem capacity of the proposed technique are presented.rnThe study also explains related advantages of signal to interference, SIR, basedrnpower control algorithm which are used to increase network capacity, extendrnbattery life and improve quality of service
