Introduction: Acute diarrheal diseases are the leading cause of preventable death, especiallyrnamong children under-five in developing countries. Worldwide and nationwide (Ethiopia)rndiarrheal disease is the second leading cause of death in under-five year children only tornpneumonia.rnObjectives: The aim of this study was to determine the magnitude and associated factors ofrnunder-five diarrhea in Laelay-Maychew district.rnMethods: A community based Cross sectional study was conducted from February 01- Februaryrn15, 2015. A two stage stratified sampling method was done to select the eligible households.rnData was collected by trained data collectors using standard questionnaire and observationalrncheck list tested previously which was prepared based on EDHS and WHO core questionnairesrnrelated to diarrhea. Data was entered in to a computer using Epi Info 3.5.3 software and exportedrnto SPSS V.21 statistical software for further analysis.
