Dam safety monitoring tool determines a functional performance of dams with anrnextended service time. One of the main dam safety monitoring tools is seepagernmonitoring system. This research presents assessment of dam safety monitoringrntechnique using seepage observed at Gilgel Gibe III hydropower project the highestrnRCC dam in the world. SEEP/W a component of GEO-STUDIO 2007 have been usedrnto do the seepage analysis. A number of hydraulic conductivities are used to find outrndifferent trial seepage values. Trial seepages were produced for different reservoirrnwater level for trial hydraulic conductivity from SEEP/W model. These calculatedrnseepage values together with the measured seepage from the dam site are an inputrnfor Multiple Linear Regression Model (MLR). Then, the MLR coefficients wererncalculated by optimizing the seep/w results with the measured seepages for a givenrnwater level in the dam. The model result concides with the measured result with Meanrnerror of -4.020x10-2m3/s, mean absolute error of 5.65x10-3 m3/s RMSE of 7.18x10-3rnm3/s and ���� value of 0.91. The RMSE, Mean error and Mean absolute error beingrncloser to zero indicate the quality of model to represent acctual condution. While the ����rnvalue being the 91 % shows the better quality of the representative model. Then arnmodel is developed and accurately predicts the expected seepage with differentrnspecific reservoir level. Using the model, safe expected seepage is produced for thernsafe future monitoring of the dam. By using these calibrated MLR coefficient andrnseep/w model seepage a monitoring curve is developed.
