he development of irrigation scheme in Ethiopia contributes to the production ofrnagricultural products which enhances food security & economic growth of the country.rnHormat-Golina irrigation scheme plays a significant role in household income. Evenrnthough both drip and furrow irrigation systems are practicing, lack of information onrnbalance applied irrigation water and crop water demand; and also there is no evaluation ofrnwater productivity of drip and furrow irrigation systems at the scheme. Thus the mainrnobjective of this study is to evaluate the water productivity of drip and furrow irrigationrnsystems at the scheme. The model CROPWAT 8.0 was used to estimate crop waterrndemand; although water productivity was evaluated as crop and economic terms for bothrnirrigation systems with two irrigation seasons. At the season Dec, 2017 to May, 2018 therncrop water productivity of drip was estimated as, 1.53, 1.02, 1.06 and 2.24 kg/mrn forrnchickpea, garlic, onion, and watermelon respectively; and 0.52, 0.66 and 1.52 kg/mrn3rn forrnchickpea, onion, and watermelon respectively with furrow irrigation method. And also, atrnthe season Dec, 2018 to May, 2019 the crop water productivity of drip irrigation systemrnfor the crops chickpea, garlic, and watermelon were determined as 1.18, 1.03 and 2.29rnkg/mrn3rn3rn respectively; and in the case of furrow irrigation system it was estimated as 0.47,rn0.57, 0.64 and 1.43 kg/mrn chickpea, garlic, onion, and watermelon respectively. In general, rnthe estimated CWP of garlic and onion from the research was lower than previous studies.rnSimilarly, in season Dec, 2017 to May, 2018 economic water productivity of drip irrigationrnsystem was estimated as 0.34, 1.29, 0.41 and 1.20 $/mrn3rn for chickpea, garlic, onion, andrnwatermelon respectively; and also 0.14, 0.25 and 0.85 $/mrn3rn for chickpea, onion, andrnwatermelon respectively from furrow irrigation system. In addition, at the season Dec,rn2018 to May, 2019 economic water productivity were determined as 0.4, 1.41 and 1.74rn$/mrn3rn3rn for chickpea, garlic, and watermelon respectively from drip irrigation method, andrnwith furrow irrigation system were determined as 0.15, 0.77, 0.31 and 1.06 $/mrn forrnchickpea, garlic, onion, and watermelon respectively. The EWP of this research wasrnsimilar with the previous researches. Based on thus results drip irrigation system is thernadvisable method for the scheme, and further studies require to improve waterrnproductivity.
