Axum has scarce water resource. At present, there are four wells and a dam that are supposed tornsupply water from aquifer and provide a barrier constructed to hold back water to the publicrnthrough the water distribution network. However, the pumping stations at these wells and damrnalong with the distribution network were managed manually by operators in a primitive manner.rnDuring peak consumption periods, which may last for weeks, water was not delivered to widernareas and the resources were not distributed evenly to public. Operators tried hard to achievernfairness by manually controlling gate valves along with pumping stations. Therefore, to overcomernthese problems, a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to be used tornmanage the water pumping stations in Axum has been designed. Moreover, this thesis introduces arnreport mechanism by modeling the existing water supply system which controls loss of data andrnreduces the loss of water. To obtain accurate data analysis, this work was presented using arnLabVIEW software simulation. And also, this system is expected to increase customer satisfaction, rnreduce water distribution cost and provide an accurate overview of the plant‟s operations.rnFurthermore, SCADA stores valuable information about the water system performance; and thisrndata is necessary for efficient development of the existent distribution system in a way that metrnpopulation growth.
