In the objective to identify the level of awareness among businesses aboutrntrademarks and their infringement, this paper reveals the general overview ofrntrademarks in Ethiopia. It discusses the relevant laws and concerned governmentrnbodies with trademark registration and arbitration of infringement cases.rnFifty questionnaires were distributed to assess level of awareness for businesses onrnpurpose sampling method of which 30 were collected and analyzed whereas thernrest 20 were not collected. The analysis of the questionnaires reveals that most ofrnthe respondent businesses do not have trademarks due to lack of awareness aboutrntrademarks in genera/.rnMajority of the respondents have witnessed infringed products which show industryrnspecific characteristics where cosmetics products take the lead. And finallyrnestablishment of customers association and provision of trainings were identified asrnmajor solutions for trademark infringement in Ethiopia.
