The paper revisits the challenges of Nigerian Universities in global arena and the need forquality assurance for Nigerian University Education System. Attempts made to maintainquality assurance by relevant regulatory bodies were highlighted. The place of NationalVirtual Library Initiative in ensuring quality assurance in Nigerian University EducationSystem was x-rayed and the way forward provided. It concludes that, because provisionof library and information services are central to effective teaching, research andlearning, any attempt to ensure quality assurance in our educational institutionsparticularly in the university systems must consider the provision of library andinformation services to be accessed and utilized physically and remotely irrespective ofthe time.
