Introduction: Quality of life of patients living with schizophrenia has been shown to be lowerrncompared with those that are not affected by it, Understanding the possible contributing factorsrncould create awareness as well as help design patient centered therapeutic interventionsrnObjective: To determine socio-demographic, clinical and psychosocial characteristics associatedrnQuality of life of patients with schizophrenia.rnMethods: Study participants who filled the SF-36 questionnaire were included in this study, thernassociation between socio-demographic, clinical and psychosocial parameters with health relatedrnquality of life of patients living with schizophrenia was determined.rnResult: The study sample consisted of 200 patients living with schizophrenia. The mean score ofrnthe study participants was found to be lower than the general population, the female participantsrnscored lower than the male and those who use substances overall score was also lower. The totalrnscore of PANSS showed negative association with the SF-36 domains, duration of illnessrnshowed no significant association with quality of life.rnKhat and tobacco use did not show significant association but consumption of alcohol was foundrnto be associated in the mental health and bodily pain domains.rnConclusion: The variables Sex, occupation, PANSS total score and alcohol use showedrnassociations with the SF-36 domains.
