The objective of thi t/ldy is to explore the traditional peacemaking and conflict managementrnpractic of the Negede Way to community, which i found in the Amhara National and RegionalrnState. The de ign that wa followed i qualitative re earch. The study was conducted in BahirrnDar, Delgi and Tachinalu. 60 Negede Way to and non-Way to participants took part in the ·tudy.rnMai1lly, FGD and emi- tructured interview were employed to gather data. Conflict arisernfrequently among the egede Way to community from getting drunk on local beers, called Telarnand T. fray and children' quarrels. Verbal abu e, stereotype, prejudice and marginalization arernattributed to conflicts erupting between the community and the Amharas. Inter-personal andrninter-group are common type of conflicts. A group of four elder: composed of the fOllr clan ,rnnamely Shilo, Dembakllra, Fuga and Gerwa sit. for managing conflict arising amongrncommunity members. Socialization is the main means the Negede Way to community u es tornprevent conflicts. The Negede Way to community prefers traditional conflict managementrnmechanisms to legal system to manage conflicts ari ing among members and between therncommunity and the Amharas
