This study is conducted with ultimate objective of exploring factors that affect hurdlernperformance. Four sample first division athletics clubs were selected, from six Addis Ababa firstrndivision athletics clubs,(Maremia betoch ,Fedral Police, Defense and Commercial Bank ofrnEthiopia) Comprehensive sampling technique. Thus, the subjects in the study were 31athlets, 4rncoaches, and 4 administrative staff. In this study descriptive survey method was employed.rnQuestionnaire was dominantly used as data collection instrument; unstructured interview andrnobservation were also used in the process. The data gathered through questionnaires werernanalyzed by using frequency counts and their percentages; whereas the data gathered throughrninterview and observation were analyzed. From the data analysis, the major findings obtainedrnwere: - There were less communications between the athletes and coaches. Because athletesrnattitude towards the coach was very low, the support that the clubs were inadequate, from thernfinding the major problems of hurdle race were lack of scientific method of training and ignorantrnto the methodology of coaching, As well as the quality and quantity of training track, Lack ofrnqualified coaches, Injuries in relation to training and lack of psychological skill training, therninterest of the athletes and the coaches were very low, motivation of the athletes themselves andrncoaches to motivate the athletes were less and total benefits (food and drink, pocket money, sportrnwear, reward and monthly payment) of the athletes as well as coaches were unsatisfactory
