Relocation & Visa Sponsorship Guide

Searching for Jobs in the UK for Foreigners or H1B Sponsorship in the USA? Understanding the legal requirements is key to a successful move.

Skilled Worker Visa & CoS

To work in the UK, you typically need a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from a licensed employer. Roles in Healthcare (Nursing/Medicine) and Information Technology often qualify for the Health and Care Worker Visa, which offers lower application fees and a path to permanent residency.

Credential Evaluation (WES/IQAS)

Before applying for Canada Express Entry or US roles, ensure your Nigerian degree is verified through WES Evaluation. This professional verification makes your profile more attractive to Global Recruitment Agencies.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is recruiting about 1.4 million ad hoc staff for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. If you are a serving corps member, a student, a public or civil servant, or a former corps member, this could be for you. It is one of the biggest temporary recruitment exercises in the country, and time is short.

Applications opened at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 18 September 2026 and close at midnight on Wednesday, 18 November 2026. Please do not leave it to the last evening. The portal gets very busy near the deadline, and a late or incomplete application will not be considered.

There is only one official place to apply: the INEC Portal for the Engagement of Election Staff (INECPRES) at pres.inecnigeria.org. It is free. INEC does not charge an activation fee, and it does not ask agents to apply for you. If anyone asks you to pay to secure a slot, that person is not acting for INEC.

The 5 INEC Ad Hoc Roles You Can Apply For

INECPRES lists five categories of ad hoc election personnel. Your eligibility depends on the role you choose, so please read the requirements for your category carefully before you register.

1. Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO)

An SPO supervises a cluster of polling units, makes sure election materials reach the right units, monitors the poll officials in the Registration Area, and sorts out logistical problems on election day. This role is mainly for federal public and civil servants on Grade Level 10 to 14, and for INEC Registration Area Officers and other INEC staff on Grade Level 10 to 14 who are not already on other election duty.

2. Presiding Officer (PO)

A PO runs one polling unit. That means accrediting voters with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), issuing ballot papers, keeping the queue orderly, and counting the votes and recording the results on the official result sheets after polls close. This role is open to serving NYSC members, former corps members, penultimate year students, and eligible MDA staff.

3. Assistant Presiding Officer (APO I, II, III)

An APO supports the Presiding Officer at the polling unit, with queue control, ballot issuance and result sheet support. The eligible pool is broadly the same as for POs: serving and former corps members, students, and eligible MDA staff.

4. Registration Area Centre (RAC) Manager

A RAC Manager runs the Registration Area Centre, the coordination point where election materials and personnel are organised before deployment. This role is for the head of the school or institution hosting the RAC, or staff of that institution, on Grade Level 07 and above.

5. Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH)

RATECH personnel provide technical and ICT support for election operations in the Registration Area. This role is for applicants with an IT background, including suitable INEC ICT staff at state or headquarters level who are not on other election duty.

Who Can Apply for INEC Ad Hoc Staff Jobs in 2027?

Eligibility is different for each role. These are the categories published on the INECPRES portal for this exercise.

Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO)

  • Federal public or civil service and Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA) staff currently on Grade Level 10 to 14.
  • INEC staff, including serving Registration Area Officers (RAOs) and other INEC staff on Grade Level 10 to 14 who are not already assigned to other election duties.
  • Priority is often given to qualified personnel from NYSC, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the National Population Commission (NPC).
  • Serving corps members are also eligible for SPO in this exercise, as are former corps members whose service ended not earlier than three years before the election, covering the 2024, 2025 and 2026 service years.

Presiding Officer (PO) and Assistant Presiding Officer (APO I, II, III)

  • Serving NYSC corps members.
  • Former corps members from the 2024 service year onward.
  • Students in federal and state tertiary institutions, penultimate year students, and students in year 2 or year 3 in some categories, with IT knowledge.
  • Permanent federal and state MDA staff holding an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), on Grade Level 07 to 10 or Grade Level 07 to 14 depending on the sub-category.
  • Permanent INEC staff on Grade Level 07 and 08.

RAC Manager and RATECH

  • RAC Manager: head of the school or institution hosting the Registration Area Centre, or staff of that institution, on Grade Level 07 and above.
  • RATECH: applicants with an IT background who are suitable INEC ICT staff at state or headquarters level and are not engaged in other election duties. RATECH applicants are the exception to the rule that you must live in the state you select.

Two rules that apply to every applicant

  • You must not be a member of any political party.
  • You must not have demonstrated or publicly expressed support for any candidate or political party.
  • You must live in the state you select on the portal, except for RATECH applicants.

If you applied in an earlier INECPRES cycle, register under the category that applies to you now. For example, register as a former corps member rather than a serving corps member if your service has ended. Do not register under a category you no longer qualify for.

This is temporary work tied to the election. It is not a permanent INEC appointment, and it does not automatically lead to a permanent job with the commission. Selected applicants are trained by INEC before deployment.

How to Apply for INEC Ad Hoc Staff Recruitment 2027, Step by Step

Apply only through the official portal. Type the address yourself and do not follow shortened links from Telegram, WhatsApp or social media posts.

  1. Go to the official portal. Open https://pres.inecnigeria.org on a laptop or desktop if you can. You can also reach INECPRES through the official INEC website at inecnigeria.org. Check that the page is for the 2027 general elections intake before you proceed.
  2. Read the requirements for your role first. Use the eligibility checker on the portal. Choose only the category you genuinely qualify for: SPO, PO or APO, RAC Manager or RATECH.
  3. Register an account. Create your INECPRES account with your correct personal details. Use an email address and phone number you can access, because INEC will use them to contact you.
  4. Fill the application form carefully. Enter your details exactly as they appear on your official documents. Select the correct state, the state you live in, and the correct role category.
  5. Upload a passport photograph and provide the details of your referees as requested on the form.
  6. Review everything before you submit. Check your name, state, role, qualifications and contact details one more time. A mistake in your category or state is hard to fix after submission.
  7. Submit before midnight on 18 November 2026 and save or print your acknowledgement. Do not leave it to the last evening. The portal is busiest then, and network problems are common.

After you apply, watch the portal and INEC's official channels for shortlisting, training and deployment information.

Documents and Details to Have Ready

  • A recent passport photograph for upload.
  • Your NYSC details if you are a serving or former corps member, including your service year.
  • Your student details if you are applying as a tertiary institution student: institution, level and course.
  • Your employment details and grade level if you are applying as a public or civil servant or MDA staff member, including your OND or NCE qualification where that is the basis of your application.
  • The names and contact details of your referees, as requested on the form.
  • A working email address and phone number you will keep active through the election period.

Common Mistakes That Can Disqualify Your INEC Application

  • Applying under the wrong category. SPO, PO, APO, RAC Manager and RATECH have different eligibility rules. Picking a role you do not qualify for wastes your application.
  • Choosing the wrong state. You must live in the state you select, except for RATECH. Do not pick a state because you think it has fewer applicants.
  • Paying anyone for the application. The application is free. Anybody asking for a portal activation fee, a slot fee or an agent's fee is not acting for INEC.
  • Using an unofficial link. Only pres.inecnigeria.org and links from inecnigeria.org are official. Shortened links and links shared in groups can lead to fake portals that harvest your details.
  • Leaving it to the deadline. The portal closes at midnight on 18 November 2026. Apply early and keep your acknowledgement safe.
  • Declaring party membership or support. Party members and people who have publicly campaigned for a candidate or party are not eligible for ad hoc election work.

Scam warning: INEC does not demand payment from applicants and does not appoint agents to assist with applications. If anyone asks you to pay to apply, to activate your portal account, or to guarantee selection, do not pay, and report it through INEC's official channels.
