Identification Of Factors Affecting Bid No Bid Decision For Construction Projects In Addis Ababa And Developing Decision Model Using Fuzzy Rule -based System
Construction Technology And Management Project Topics
The main way of acquiring a job for a construction company is throughrncompetitive bid. Most of the time, bid invitations float for a short period of time and arernseasonal. This activity is critical as it is done frequently, quickly, and intuitively. For arnconstruction company, the decision to participate in a bid has to be done wisely. Thisrndecision is influenced by different factors and it varies with different background.rnIn related to this, current research has been done to study the factors affecting bidrndecision as well as develop model. The purpose of this research paper was to identifyrnfactors and examine which of these factors had a relationship with the decision to bid orrnnot to bid. The research results show that prequalification requirements have a significantrnrelation with the decision to not bid or bid and the other factors include turn overrnrequirements, ability to do the job, project tie with company future , future projects, rnoverall economy (availability of work), past experience in managing similar projects andrnmarket conditions (stability of material prices).rnThe decision support model was developed using multi-variable regression andrnthe Fuzzy Rule-Based (FRB) System. For the FRB model, the C-means clusteringrntechnique is applied for generating membership function and rule base.rnThe Data driven fuzzy rule base system model has been selected as the Mamdanirnor Linear Sugeno type having 38 rules, 14 inputs and 1 output structure and showed an R2rnvalue of 85. Multiple linear regressions resulted in having a 3 variable model using arnstepwise approach with an R2 value of 69and was a good fit.rnIt has been established that for c
