This study aims at investigating the extent of implementing grade eleven andrntwelve Health and Physical Education Syllabus.rnThe subjects of the study are 7 directors) all teachers) all department headsrnand 61 0 students from seven schools in Addis Ababa City Administration)rnselected by using purposive and random sampling techniques. Observation)rnquestionnaire and interview were the instruments of data collection. Therndata gathered through these instruments were analyzed using percentagernThe results show that most of the teachers of Health and Physical Educationrndo not developed interest towards their subject. Due to this fact mostrnteachers do not fulfill professional duties and responsibilities. Teachers'rnability of teaching the subject was poor)' hence they do not use variousrnmethods of teaching)' rather)' they use traditional) (teacher centered) methodrnof teaching. Most teachers in Government schools don't use continuousrnassessment techniques) appropriate teaching aids with sufficient quantityrnwhere need. In addition to these) in many schools) the school environmentrnwas not suitable for the instruction of Health and physical education subject.rnAnd also the period distribution (schedule}) of Health and physical educationrnis not suitable for the subject) (pa.'1.icularly for practical lesson).rnThe findings further indicate that some factors such as inadequacy of periodrnallotment) crowded classroom (Particularly In Government Schools))rninadequacy of teaching aids) teaching facilities (equipments}) lack ofrnappropriate training field areas and poor environmental conditions appear tornhave contribution to the ineffectiveness of teachers in the implementationrnprocess of Health and physical education syllabus.rnBased on these findings and the conclusion dral.'Jn) relatedrnrecommendations regarding the improvement of teacher training and thernprovision of the necessary instructional materials are forwarded
