This study tried to examine attitudes of women towards menopause. A total of 150 middlernadulthood women government workers from three towns of Ethiopia; Addis Ababa, Bahir-Darrnand Hawassa participated. In the study data were collected by questionnaire with threerncomponents; background information of participants, attitude about menopause and societalrnattitudes to menopause. The average age for the occurrence of last menstruation was 48.97rnyears. Specifically 49.08, 44.18 and 48.78 for Addis Ababa, Bahir-Dar and Hawassarnrespectively were found to be the average age of menopause. The result also revealed thatrnparticipants have positive attitude towards menopause however as the pair wise comparisonrnamong towns explained participants from Hawassa town showed positive attitude than AddisrnAbaba and Bahir- Dar town’s participants. As the result of Spearman rank order correlationrnthere is no relation between marital status and attitudes towards menopause. It was alsornexamined by Spearman Rho that there was no relation between educational background andrnattitude towards menopause. The correlation between age and attitude towards menopause werernalso analyzed by Spearman Rho and found to be no relation. As societal attitude were examinedrnthe research resulted a positive attitude towards women in menopause.rnKey words: Menopause, Menopause attitude, societal attitude towards menopause
