The study was initiated to explore the Management of Educational Material Resources inrnSecondary Schools in Yaya Gulale woreda North Shoa Zone. To realize the purpose of thernstudy, descriptive survey research design was selected. Mixed research method wasrnparticularly important in complementing the limitation of each method by another. Bothrnprimary and secondary sources of data were used in the study. Questionnaire, interview andrnobservation data collection instruments were used..rnThe study was carried out on three secondary schools that were selected using simple randomrnsampling technique. The study also involved 26 teachers, 2 secondary school principals,2rnsecondary school vice principals six WEOH, six PTAS and 2 administrative staffs the total ofrn44 respondents. Data were analyzed and interpreted using both quantitatively andrnqualitatively. The data collected through questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively:rnpercentages, frequency and mean score were used; qualitative data collected throughrninterviews and observation and open ended questions. The findings indicated that the majorrnchallenges in the implementation of the management of educational material resources inrnsecondary schools were: the school donot apply purchasing process as planned, lack store agernfacility in the schools, Low maintenance activities in the the sccools, lack of appropriaterntraining, in efficient administrative services, accordingly, the conclusion drawn is that thernmanagement of educational material resources in secondary schools under consideration wasrnless than expectation. Finally, recommendations for addressing these issues were proposed as,rnamong other things provision of awareness raising instruction, conduct training forrnresponcible bodies, developing a sense of ownership among the school community andrnmaintenance for want on or other damages so as to improve the management of educationalrnmaterial resources.
