Background: Postpartum depression is a disabling but treatable mental disorder that is the mostrncommon complication of childbearing. It has significant adverse outcomes on both the mother andrnthe infant. The prevalence of postpartum depression is higher in low and middle income countries. rnObjective: The study aims to assess the prevalence of postpartum depression and associatedrnfactors among mothers that present to immunization clinic in Teklehaymanot health center, AddisrnAbaba, Ethiopia. rnMethods: An institution based cross-sectional study was conducted at Teklehaymanot healthrncenter on a total of 300 participants. An interviewer administered structured questionnaire wasrnused for data collection. SPSS version 26.0 was used for analysis of the data. Binary logisticrnregression model was used to assess the association between independent and dependent variables.rnThe output is presented using odds ratio with 95% confidence interval. rnResults: The prevalence of postpartum depression was found to be 19.1% (95% CI: 14.7%-23.4%)rnUnplanned pregnancy (AOR 5.377 ,95% C.I.: 1.960-14.756), male gender of the newbornrn(AOR=2.586 (95% C.I.: 1.037-6.446), previous history of depression (AOR=41.457, 95% C.I.:rn10.392-165.388), poor social support (AOR=4.299, 95% C.I.: 1.100-16.797) and domesticrnviolence AOR=4.041, 95% C.I.: 1.446-11.298) were found to be significant predictors ofrnpostpartum depression. rnConclusion: There is a high prevalence of postpartum depression among postpartum women.rnUnplanned pregnancy, female newborn gender, history of depression, poor social support andrndomestic violence are associated factors.
