Broiler meat processing farms are generally recognized as one of the main factor of economicrngrowth for the development of one country. These farms contribute to job opportunities, foodrnsafety, directly or indirectly protects environment and it creates a major window of opportunityrnfor most developing countries. Ethiopia is one of the few African countries with a significantlyrnlarge population of chicken, estimated at 56.87 million and poultry production is widespread andrnalmost every rural family owns chicken. rnCurrently, with the rapid development of the country, people who live in cities use processedrnbroiler meat. However, there is a shortfall of 56.7% of the demand in Addis Ababa. One of thernreasons for the uncovered demand is that, there are few large scale poultry farms. Moreoverrnthese farms cannot produce to their full capacity because of not knowing how to use theirrnresources effectively, information gap, poor inventory management system and knowledge gap.rnThese means the farms have inefficient working system on the key drivers of internal supplyrnchain. rnThis study covers how to improve internal supply chain of large scale poultry farms viarnproduction modeling to increase productivity. With this objective, in order to propose a modelrnfor broiler meat processing farms, the study analyzed the problems being faced by this sector.rnThe study is done based on intensive interviews, questionnaires, focused group discussion andrnsecondary data. According to the collected data most of the farms produce less than 50% of theirrncapacity, do not have effective flock projection or planning method, have poor inventoryrnmanagement system, are disintegrated and unorganized, almost all farms use un modernizedrnfarming system. rnSo, to improve internal supply chain the study developed an excel flock projection data base andrnsimulation model which allow for analysis of the processes and calculations of effective use ofrneach resource, easily determine and quantify the required facility, enable communicattionrnhorizontally and vertically throughout the internal supply chain.
