The introduction of HAART has brought about a significant reduction in the morbidityrnand mortality of patients with 1I1V infection. However, the mortality rate of patientsrntreated with HAART is stili vel)' high in resource-constrained sellings. The study hasrnreviewea patients' forms and ./ollow up cards of 491 patients treated with HAART inrnDembi Dollo Hospitalfrom 2010-2012. The minimumfollow up time was 2 month andrnthe maximum was 36 months. Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Log-Rank test werernused to compare the survival experience of different groups of patients and proportionalrnhazards Cox model was used /0 explore factors a./fecting survival of patients whichrndirectly linked with increased risk of mortality. The overall mean estimated survivalrntime of patients was 33.8 mon/hs. Poverty is one of the most determinant factorsrna./fecting survivals of patien/s in study area. Moreover, laboratory and clinical factorsrnare associated with increased risk of mortality. Fear of stigma is one of the barriers tornuptake treatment persistently. Food support program is necessary for all of patientsrnto have better survival experience.
