Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a serious cause of liver disease affecting millionsrnof people throughout the world. When HBV is acquired during pregnancy, prenatalrntransmission can occur to the fetus. rnObjective: This study is aimed at determining the prevalence and associated factors ofrnHBV infection among pregnant women attending Antenatal Clinic (ANC) for routinernpregnancy check-up of Adigrat General Hospital, Tigray Ethiopia. rnMethod: A hospital based cross-sectional study design will be conducted on 350 pregnantrnwomen visiting ANC between March 1/2019 and April 30/2019. Data regarding sociodemographicrnrnassociated factors, hospital associated factors and risky cultural andrnbehavioral factors will be gathered using questionnaire. Cards of the participant pregnantrnwomen will be checked for the presence of HPV. Data will be analyzed using SPSSrnversion 20. rnWork plan and budget: the study will be performed within 8 months, and the total cost ofrnthis study will be covered 25,146.00 ETB.
