Prevalence And Associated Factors Of Postnatal Care Within One Week Utilization Among Women Who Had Given Birth In The Last Six Weeks In Ameya District Oromia Regional State Ethiopia 2016
Introduction: Majority of maternal and neonatal deaths occurred during pregnancy, childbirth andrnpostpartum. In the neonatal period (the first 28 days of life), most deaths occur during the first 7rndays. In Ethiopia level of any postnatal care utilization was very low. Ethiopia Mini demographicrnand health survey reported 87 % of women didn’t receive postnatal care within two days, asrnrecommended by world health organization (WHO).rnObjective: The objective of this study was to assess prevalence and associated factors of postnatalrncare within one week utilization among women who had given birth in the last six in Ameyarndistrict, Oromia regional state, Ethiopia, 2016.rnMethod: An institution quantitative based cross sectional study design employed from Februaryrn15 –March 15, 2016 G.C in Ameya district. 332 study participants were selected by taking as arncluster those proportionally allocated to respected health centers. The data were analyzed usingrnSPSS version 23.0. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression was used to identify thernassociated factors with the outcome variable. Graphs, tables and sentences were used forrndescriptive statistics.rnResult: The finding revealed that postnatal care within one week utilization in the study area isrn25.3%. Partner occupation, complication during labor & delivery distance between her home &rnhealth center, advised on maternal postpartum complications, advised on neonatal complicationsrnand awareness of PNC within one week services were the main contributing factors of PNC withinrnone week utilization.rnConclusion and recommendation: PNC within one week utilization is low. Partner occupation,rncomplication during labor & delivery, distance between her home & health center, advised onrnmaternal postpartum complications, advised on neonatal complications and awareness of PNCrnwithin one week services were the main factors affect PNC within one week.
