University of York International Undergraduate Scholarship 2027 in the UK: £5,000 a Year for International Students — No Separate Application
Securing a Fully Funded Scholarship is only the first step. Many Nigerian students are now utilizing No-Cosigner Student Loans through providers like MPOWER Financing and Prodigy Finance to cover living expenses in the USA, Canada, and the UK.
If you are applying to Ivy League or Russell Group Universities, look for programs offering Graduate Assistantships. Many top-tier universities are currently granting GRE and GMAT Waivers for African applicants with strong professional backgrounds or high GPAs from recognized institutions.
For Canada and the US, a WES Course-by-Course Evaluation is often mandatory. Additionally, if your degree was taught in English, you may qualify for an IELTS/TOEFL Waiver, saving you significant costs during the Graduate Admissions process.
Applications are now open for the University of York International Undergraduate Scholarship 2027, a tuition-fee discount for international students starting a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of York in September 2027. The award is worth £5,000 for each year of study, and — unusually for a scholarship of this size — there is no separate scholarship application to complete. Every eligible student who holds an offer from York receives it automatically.
This is a partial funding opportunity, not a fully funded scholarship. The £5,000 a year comes off your tuition fees, so you still need to plan funding for the rest of your tuition and for living costs such as accommodation, food, books, travel and personal expenses. That said, a guaranteed £5,000 a year for the full length of your degree is a meaningful reduction in the cost of studying at a leading UK research university — and because it is automatic, you do not have to write an extra essay or meet a separate scholarship deadline to get it.
The University of York International Undergraduate Scholarship is a £5,000 tuition fee discount for each year of your study, provided you progress successfully through your course. It is awarded to international undergraduate students starting their studies at York in September 2027.
There is no separate application form. The University of York states: "All eligible undergraduate students holding an offer at York will receive this scholarship. You will not need to formally apply for the scholarship." When you receive your scholarship letter, you must formally accept the scholarship offer using the link provided in your offer email, by the deadline given in that email.
To be eligible for the York International Undergraduate Scholarship, you must:
All undergraduate courses are eligible, with the exceptions listed below.
You will not be eligible if:
A few important terms to know: if you defer your place at York, you cannot keep the scholarship. If you are eligible for more than one University of York scholarship, you will receive the highest-value one — York scholarships cannot be combined. If you receive a scholarship from an external provider, York will reduce your award. And if a credibility interview is required as part of your application, the scholarship is conditional on a successful outcome.
There is no scholarship form to fill in. Here is how it works:
Please note: York's scholarship page currently carries a notice that scholarships for 2027 entry will be opening soon. The award itself is automatic for eligible offer-holders, so there is no separate application window to wait for — but always confirm the latest terms on the official page linked below before you rely on them.
Hold a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of York by 1 July 2027. That is the key date for this scholarship: there is no separate scholarship deadline, because the award is automatic. In practice, apply through UCAS by the 13 January 2027 equal-consideration deadline to give yourself the best chance of receiving an offer in good time.
This is a different award from the York University President's International Scholarship of Excellence in Canada — that is a separate university (York University, Toronto) with its own CAD 180,000 award. Do not confuse the two.
