The main purpose of this study was to investigate the practices and problems of mentoring newly deployed secondary school teachers in Oromia Regional State Holeta Administrative Town. Descriptive survey design was employed for addressing the objectives of the study. The study consisted of five Secondary Schools mentors, mentees, school principals and Town TDP owner process included in the study. To gather the necessary data both open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires as well as interviews and document analysis were used .The data gathered through closed ended questionnaires were analyzed using frequency count ,percentage and mean .While the data gathered through open ended questionnaires and interviews were organized, summarized and used to supplement information. The results of this study revealed absence of incentives for mentors, lack of awareness ,inability of mentors in communicating school expectation to mentors. From this finding one can conclude lack of awareness, in ability of mentors in communicating school expectation to mentees. Finally it is recommended that providing training periodically on the mentoring activities; more over mechanism of reward should be arranged for the work done to improve mentors commitment, morally or materially.
