The Status Utilization And Challenges Of Information Communication Technology In Awash Sebat Killo Timer Tor Military Academy Technical Training Center
The main purpose of this study was to assess the status, utilization and challenges of ICT inrnAwash Sebat Killo Timir Tor Military Academy Technical Training Center. In order to meet thernobjectives of the study, a descriptive survey design was employed. Thirty-two (32) trainers, fortyrntwo (42) trainees and four (4) commandants were selected using availability sampling technique.rnQuestionnaires, Simi structured interview guide and observation checklists were used forrncollecting data. Frequency distributions and percentages were used to analyze the quantitativerndata. The data obtained through open-ended questions of the questionnaires, the interviews andrnobservation checklist were qualitatively analyzed to supplement the quantitative data.rnThe data analysis led to the following major findings: (1) the study revealed that the Academyrnhad adequate resource for the utilization of ICT; (2) the trainers and trainees had receivedrntraining in many aspects of ICT, but not on how to utilize simulator; (3) it was found out that thernAcademy hadn’t any ICT Guidelines or ICT policy. Based on the findings, it was concluded thatrnwithout ICT policy or guideline nothing could be implemented. So they should work soon day andrnnight on this issue.rnFinally, the following recommendations were formulated: the academy is advised to providerncontinuous professional development training for trainers to model the trainees; the curriculumof the academy need to be revised as the Ministry of Defense Vision and mission. It should enablerntrainees and trainers to effectively use ICT in teaching and learning; the safety of the availablernICT tools of the academy like computers should be safeguarded; Commandant’s body shouldrnwork on enhancing internet connection and prepare ICT guideline in teaching-learning processesrnsoon and should be implemented automatically.
