The purpose of this study was to explore the positive impact these vocational education training have on the inmate’srnself-sustainability once they exit these prison facilities. Federal prison administration is mandated to admit and wardrnprisoners, provide reformative and rehabilitative service various lengths of sentences in the penal institutions. in orderrnto enable them make attitudinal and behavioral changes, and become law abiding, peaceful and productive citizens .Inrnorder to achieve this objective, they engage the inmates in various technical and vocational training aimed at equippingrnthem with adequate skills to become self-reliant, useful to the community and avoid reoffending once through with theirrnpenitentiary terms.. The study had five objectives which include: the technical and vocational educational training isrnorganized and managed in prison positive impact on the self- sustainability of ex-convicts in federal prisonerrnadministration, technical and vocational educational training accessible in prison makes worth impact on selfsustainabilityrn– employability, vocational training offered in prison makes wealth impact on self-sustainability -rnproductivity in labor power, What attitude /perception of prison on the conducting technical and vocational educationalrntraining in ex-convicts makes worth impact on self-sustainability – sustain in engagement and the areas of training,rnmajor problem/challenges in the provision of technical and vocational training in prison impact on the selfsustainabilityrnof the prison ex-convicts in federal prisoner administration. This study aimed at investigating the positivernimpact of VET obtained in prison on self-sustainability of ex-convicts. And this research followed mixed-methodsrndescriptive-design approach. Hence allows the researcher to describe record, analyses and report conditions that existrnor existed. This study contacted 287 sample respondents (ex-convicts). This study applied mainly used survey, interviewrnand observation as a data collection instrument. Accordingly, out of the total sample 287 ex-convicts 233 (81.23%) ofrnthem disagreed for VET obtained in prison is offering economic opportunities within the context of livelihoodrnsustenance. out of the total sample 287 ex-convicts 218 (75.95%) of them strongly disagreed for VET obtained inrnprison enables them to solve work related problems. Based on these presentations still VET in prison is not at thernappropriate position being conductive to sustain employment.rnBased on the summary of the findings above this study concludes that VET obtained in prison and its worthiness inrnimpacting self-sustainability less than average value. Even if providing inmates with vocational education andrntraining is pathway to reduce recidivism. The study recommended that the government should improve on the technicalrnand vocational education program offered and come up with modern, relevant, need based and market orientedrncourses, provide tools and startup capital to enable the ex-convicts carry out their trade after release from prison. Inrnaddition, it recommends that ex-convicts should be allowed to select courses of their choice which are within theirrnability.
