The purpose of this study was an assessment of integrated functional adult education implementation at Addis Ababa. To this end, a descriptive survey design was employed. Moreover, mixed methods were used. Sources of primary data were 9 experts, 8Adult Education Coordinators, 43 Adult Education Facilitators and 143 Adult Education Learners. Simple random sampling and available sampling were employed for this study. Secondary sources of data were the statistical reports of the wereda ,sub city education offices and records of the sample IFAE centers. Data collection tools were questionnaire items, semi structured interview guide and observation checklist. The data obtained through the use of a questionnaire was analyzed quantitatively by using frequency count and percentages whereas the information gathered by using semi-structured interview guide and observation checklist were transcribed, qualitatively analyzed, interpreted and expressed by using descriptive statements. The data analysis led to the following major findings: Planning was not Participatory due to it was often carried out by top governmental bodies.. Facilitators were paid only small amount of pocket money and they did not get adequate training. In addition to that, there was lack of provision of support from technique committee and also they suffer from lack of showroom due to inadequate budget. More over hand, there were other challenges such as: lack of budget, age difference between the learners Therefore, the above-mentioned shortages would negatively affect the implementation of IFAE program in Addis Ababa.. Thus, to improve the situation, it is recommended that: stakeholders should manage the program in the sense of ownership and prepare the plan by participating adult learners, facilitators and society, there should be incentives for facilitators, allocate budget in advance of the program implementation and IFAL technique committee and board members are advised to discharge their duties and responsibilities effectively.
