The objective of the study is to evaluate the role of Media on Conflict resolutions in the case of Walta TV –Media. The studies design is explanatory research design and its approach is mixed studies method. Sources of data was both primary and secoundary sources. Sampling size is 297 are media personnel working in walta TV, community memebers of Kirkos sub town ( woreda four, woreda and woreda 9 ) and police personnel. Sampling techniques used was random sampling technique. The findings pointed out that, the hours spent on media as majority of respondents spent among 30mins to three hours on media according to day. Media has a roles of de-escalation and esclation roles. Some roles included; encourage hate speech; operate parallel counting centers; Storage of important information about conflicts, misrepresentation of information; Incitement to a high degree; belong to partisans or a political party; and corruption. Some of the positive roles the media played were civic education; preaching peace and calling for unity; public awareness and fair coverage of political campaigns; and disseminating contentious issues during negotiations. The study recommends that the media take a common approach to conflict reporting. This will help mitigate discrepancies in coverage to objectively expose areas of dispute and consensus and encourage friendly communication. Given that the media played a role in conflict escalation and de-escalation based on the results of the study, the study recommends that media regulators and law enforcement agencies develop laws, rules and severe penalties for both media companies and personalities who Use the media for negative purposes. The study also recommends training local media reporters or journalists to report on conflicts. Since reporting conflicts is more of a challenge, most journalists have been very unprofessional in reporting based on the results. Media training institutions should therefore design study units on conflict reporting. The media society should organize workshops and training courses on reporting and conflict management for its specialists. The study also recommends that media reports (Walta TV) not target specific listeners. As can be deduced from the results that people react differently to conflict topics depending on their age, gender, social status, religion and place of residence, reports of conflicts must affect all listeners and affect everyone equally
