Ethiopia has a large population that has to be informed properly in order to achieve strong socioeconomicalrnand political establishment in the country. Thus the country has to establish and encouragernindependent and diversified mass media as many as they can satisfy the information need of these largernand diversified ethic groups. But there is a condition in which such practice is not functional in therncountry. Even the majorities Oromoms are not represented in the press of the country. The mainrnobjective of the study is to assess the position of Afaan Oromoo Print Media in Ethiopia and to identifyrnmajor factors that hinder the growth of the media. Data were qualitatively collected through in-depthrnpersonal interviews and questionnaires with open ended questions. Interviews were conducted withrneditors- in- chief of both the government owned and previous private owned Afaan Oromoo printrnmedia while questionnaires were distributed to audiences and journalists of Afaan Oromoo Mass Mediarnthat are selected through snowball sampling method. Therefore, study concluded that Afaan OromoornPrint media are insufficient to satisfy the information need of Oromo people. There are only three printrnmedia that are owned by the government and there is no private print media that are published inrnlanguage in the country. Different factors like political, economic, professional and social challengesrnwere ascribed for the less development of the media.
