Background: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer and primary cause of cancer related mortalityrnamong women worldwide, in sSA, and particularly, in Ethiopia. It has been reported that around 20-40%rnof breast cancers occur due to modifiable risk factors, including obesity and dyslipidemia. rnObjective: The aim of this study was to determine the association of obesity and dyslipidemia with breastrncancer risk among newly diagnosed pre- and postmenopausal women at Yekatit 12 Hospital MedicalrnCollege, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2019. rnMethod: A hospital-based matched case-control study was conducted from April, 2019 to December,rn2020, among 57 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with histopathological evidences, and 114rnwomen controls from same age group (±2 years) and residence. Anthropometric measurements wererncarried out and their fasting blood samples were analyzed for TC, LDL-C, HDL-C and TG. In addition,rnassessment of possible risk factors was done using a pre-tested standardized questionnaire.
