Organizations are facing competitive and globalized markets, as well as constant environmentalrnchanges that often require an organizational restructuring of the business models in order tornboost performance. Project management practices can help to achieve strategic goals andrnincrease value of projects in organizations. The Project Management Office (PMO) is anrnorganizational structure created in order to promote and improve project management practice,rnby adopting appropriate methodologies to achieve high levels of efficiency and effectiveness. Thernmain purpose of this research is to assess the type and roles of PMO in Dashen Bank. Since thernimportance of PMO is increasing in organizations, the results of this work are useful to providernguidance to organizations on implementing or restructuring their own PMO. To achieve thernobjectives of this research, a descriptive approach has been used in studying the existing DashenrnBank PMO roles and type. The data collection used questionnaires to whole 82 employees ofrnPMO as a primary data sources and organizational documents and reports as secondary datarnsources. The collected data analyzed by the use of SPSS v20 and other different methods. Thernoutcomes of this research show that in Dashen Bank out of 25 attributes categorized in to fivernmain roles; Recruit, select, evaluate and determine salaries of project managers, Coordinaternvendor/ contractor relationship management, and Manage one or more programs arernscored disagreement which means these roles are not being performed in the PMO. The office isrnsupportive, controlling and directive type as needed by the organization with good flexibility.rnThe research recommended that PMO in Dashen bank needs significant improvement onrnrecruiting and assigning staffs to its project management office and sentiment existing roles andrntype with little improvement to have more benefit from the concept of program/projectrnmanagement office. It also recommended that the PMO should be empowered more and improvernin the area of employees recruitment ad vendor relationship in turn it might help to improve itsrnroles and responsibilities, staffing appropriate employees and empowering this PMO in thernorganization and helping to achieve more projects performance enhancement.
