This research project was mainly set out with general objective of assessing monitoring andrnevaluation practices of eight town distribution rehabilitation project of Ethiopia ElectricrnUtility. To achieve its objective, the study employed descriptive research approach andrnsecondary data was used. Questionnaires were used as data collection tools. Furthermore, itrnemployed purposive sampling techniques. The generated data was analyzed using frequency,rnpercentage and other statistical analysis methods such as stability and correlation. The studyrnexamined questionnaires, open ended questionnaire used better to identify the cases thatrnrespondents feel about the project. Most respondents described their feelings andrnunderstandings It was found out that there was lack of adequate and capable workforce on thernproject contractors and monitoring and evaluation group, lack of capacity building program,rnproblems related with right off and interruption related issues are among some thernrespondents open ended responses, In addition the use of tools and techniques of evaluation,rnnon presence of log frame, stakeholder involvement in planning and evaluation practices, nonrnavailability of separate budget for monitoring and evaluation are some of the drawback of thernevaluation process. The result and analyses summarizes mentioned problems. In this analysisrnpart the reliability and correlation between the variables also checked. Descriptive statisticsrnwas used to make the result and most of the analysis, but also tries to correlate the identifiedrnvariables with negative response with each other and with the projects problem of notrnachieving the planned schedule and budget. Finally the discussion and recommendation isrnmade in accordance with the findings and open ended responses. The recommendation partrngives the main considerations that should be taken was emphasized to have effectivernimplementation of project and real monitoring and evaluation process
