Good governance is one of the pillars for rapid economic, social and political development. ThernFDRE in its countrywide strategic plans (PASDEP, currently GTP) highly emphasized the needrnto enhance community participation in policy formulation, planning, implementation, monitoringrnand evaluation. It comprised a range of interventions such as human development,rndemocratization, enhancing peoples’ participation, integrated capacity building, transparency andrnaccountability. The sustainability of the social accountability civic engagements in creatingrncitizens participation by using dialogue and interface meetings enhance citizen’s participation inrnplanning, monitoring and evaluation of basic public service and that in turn promote the servicernprovision. However, insufficient state-citizen relationship, weak application of good governance,rnand social inclusion hinder the smooth flow of the service provision in Adet town. Sustainablernparticipatory planning between communities and basic public service providers are still lackingrnin many of the sector offices. The performance of the service providers in providing qualityrnservice and good governance is not in a position to meet the need of service users. Therefore, thernmajor purpose of the study was assessing the sustainability of social accountability civicrnengagements that ensure good governance, and how it will be institutionalize in the governmentrnreform agenda in the future. It also identified the major areas of problems in implementing thernSA program related to service delivery and the SA civic engagements. The SA good practice andrnoutcomes has to replicate to other non targeted woreda and kebeles as well as sector offices.rnThe analysis was conducted by using a descriptive survey method by clustering the respondentsrnin to citizens, local governments, service providers, partner organization and ESAP managementrnagency. The sample is selected using judgmental sampling technique. To do this, the citizen’srnare first stratified in to youth; women, households, neglected, religious fathers and communityrnrepresentatives, then questionnaires were distributed to 250 citizens by using simple randomrnsampling technique. Both primary and secondary data was used in the study. Moreover,rnstructured and semi structured interviews and FGD were conducted to gather relevantrninformation from key informant interview from service providers, local government, ESAPrnmanagement agency officer and partner organization OPRIFS
