This paper analyzes the role of RPSNP in livelihood diversification. It uses mixed methods across 3 (three)rnkebeles in Amhara region, North wollo zone, Wadla woreda. Primary data was collected through, keyrninformant interview, focus group discussions (FGD), survey and field observations. The central researchrnquestion was, does PSNP played a role in increasing the livelihood options of its beneficiaries throughrnincreasing farm, non-farm and off-farm income? The result of the study shows the program contributed inrndiversifying the livelihood options as well as preserving and increasing the livelihood assets of beneficiaries.rnThe main diversification scheme in the study area as a result of PSNP is off-farm and non-farm income. Fromrnthe total sampled PSNP beneficiary households 72% and 39% responded their off farm and non-farm incomernincreased their livelihood options respectively. The livelihood changes and increased livelihood options ofrnbeneficiaries were mainly reflected through the PSNPs resources investment on rural road, irrigation canals,rnhealth centers, spring water development, water and soil conservation. It further increased availability ofrnforage, natural resource extraction, such as, charcoal and bee keeping as well as by increasing participationrnin off farm activities. Generally, livelihood diversification through the help of RPSNP (that is off farm, nonfarm and farm income) has an effect on livelihood status of households in the study area.
