To achieve the main objective of the study primary data were collected both from students and parents of students using structured questionnaire where the secondary data were collected from record office of each school as well as recorded documents from the wereda educational center. The study focused to address students’ level of self–esteem by assessing major areas such as Parent-student relationship, parental help and support, corrective measures to be taken for behavior management and perception of parents on their children’s self–esteem as well as students’ perception towards their own self–esteem. Based on this the study considered 200 sample population from four primary schools. The analysis were done in to two parts in the first part the study was analyzed using descriptive data analysis method while in the second part the study analyzed using explanatory data analysis method (correlation analysis). Accordingly, the major finding of the study implied that, parents were good enough in relationship with their children and assisting their children in some activities however there were challenges that affect students’ self–esteem due to parental inefficient activities such as, lack of free discussion, spending inadequate time, lack of help in school activities, lack of awareness creation about good and bad behaviors as well as improper punishments. These in the eyes of the researcher are caused basically due to parents-students perception variation. Based on these the study recommended some of the possible measures to be taken to reduce the challenges. Parents should give attention not only to the outcomes their children achieve but also to the process and steps they pass through to make it up and analyze the way they perceive things. And also spend enough time as a family to guide, guard appreciate or punish them.rnKey terms: - Children’s Self–esteem, parental involvement
