The purpose of the study was to investigate the schooling situation of hearing impairedrnpupils at two special units and two integrated school settings of Bahirdar and Debretaborrntowns in Amhara region.rnTo carry out the study, relevant literature review was made. Interviews with 69rnparticipants (26 hearing impaired pupils, 20 teachers, and 23 parents) and observation werernused to collect data. The data were grouped into categories.rnThe results indicated lack of parental support, absence of modified curriculum,rninappropriate instructional methods, lack of trained teachers, lack of motivation, absence ofrnsupport services and teaching materials, and low expectation were found to be the majorrnfactors contributed the schooling problems of the hearing impaired pupils in the special andrnregular classes of the deaf in the study.rnTe incidence of the problem was highest in integrated classes than in special classes ofrnthe deaf. The study suggested a set of factors which may need due consideration for thernschooling of the hearing impaired pupils in regular school settings
