The purpose of this research was to investigate the role of investors andrnsponsorship in the development of Ethiopian athletics. To conduct thisrnresearch, descriptive survey method was employed. The primary source of datarnwere collect by means of questioner from sports personnel, athletes andrnsponsors and secondary source of data were document analysis from Ethiopiarnfederal investment agency and from grate run office. Sampling techniques werernemployed to select purposively. Like wise, the collected data were analyzedrnquantitatively by using descriptive statistics such as, frequently countrnpercentage and qualitatively by using narration mode.rnIn many instances, sponsorship has proven to be the financial lifebloodrnof athletics sport tourism events held in regional areas, and often provides arnmajority of the revenue necessary to sustain the successful staging of suchrnevents.rnThis quantitative and qualitative study examined through questioner andrndocument analysis. Sponsors provided sponsorship to regional and federalrnathletic sport tourism events, sponsorship leveraging, evaluation ofrnsponsorship effectiveness, and how sponsorships were initiated betweenrnsponsors and athletics sport tourism events.rnThe results of this research found that the role of investors and sponsorship inrnthe development of Ethiopian athletics. Professional sport personnel andrnathletes ( managers ) were well aware of the importance of reciprocating arnreturn on investment to their sponsors. Both sponsors and sponsoredrntended to exhibit low levels of proficiency in being able to carry out effectivernsponsorship leveraging and evaluations, and as such leveraging andrnevaluation techniques employed in these sponsorships tended to bernunsophisticated and inexpensive to execute.
