Tllis study was set to examine the supportive service provision practices in the delivery ofrndistance education for the army. The special purpose of the study is concerned with thernsupportive service provision to students, and the effectiveness of the implementation ofrntile progm/'/'1 in the regard. The paper gives a phenomenological account of the distancernLearns. Descriptive survey method was e/'/'lployed where by firs t hand information wererngathered using multiple instruments. Accordingly, students who were selected by 1.lsingrnstrntified sampling technique have filled in the questionnaires: and focus grouprndiscussion were made with five tutors who were selected with simple rand01'l1 samplingrnmethods, and interviews were made with five heads of dis tance education heads in tl1ernMONO Training main Department. Nevertheless the success of the implementation ofrngiving support service was affected negatively due to leniency of follow ups, lack of timelyrnand even distribution of modules, delay of feedback on assignments. Absence ofrnaccountability to the program was also seen as the crucial point. To be successful inrnproviding support services to students, appropriate tutorial session should bernadministered, library service should be given training should be given to tutors andrncoordinators, and counseling services should be provided properly.
