The major target of this study is to describe the core factorsrnthat influence the psychosocial behaviour of AIDS orphans. And thernextent to which these factors (independent variables) like social andrnpsychological needs, and stigma and discrimination contribute to thernemotional, social and personal behaviour of AIDS orphans isrnexamined. Moreover, the research has tried to see if significantrndifference exists between male and female AIDS orphans and AIDSrnorphans getting varied support on their psychosocial behaviour.180rnAIDS orphans and 60 guardians or caretakers are selected from fivernnon - governmental organizations working with AIDS orphans inrnAwassa, namely ABS, MJATD, OSSA, TAWLWH and TBEAOYA.rnQuestionnaires were distributed to all the sample population andrninterview and FGD was employed. Correlation technique wasrnemployed to see the level of significance of the relationship betweenrnthe dependent variables and the independent ones. Moreover, thernregression was calculated to see the extent to which the independentrnvariables predict the dependent ones. ANOVA was run to see ifrnsignificant difference exists between the male and female AIDSrnorphans on their psychosocial behaviour. Finally, T-test wasrncalculated to see if there exists significant difference between thoserngetting varied support on their psychosocial behaviour. Therncorrelation between the dependent and independent variablesrnrevealed that there is significant relationship between the social andrnpsychological needs and the emotional, personal and socialrnbehaviour. Where as the existence of stigma and discrimination hasrnshown negative and insignificant correlation with the dependentrnvariables. The regression has also revealed that the independentrnvariables predict the dependent ones to a great extent (25% onrnaverage). The ANOVA calculated shows that there is no significantrndifference between male and female AIDS orphans in their social andrnpersonal behaviour, while it shows significant difference in theirrnemotional behaviour. The T-test calculated has revealed significantrndifference between children in ABS; and those getting support fromrnIT on their social, emotional and personal behaviour due to thernvaried support they get, which is also revealed in the significantrndifference exhibited in the fulfilment of the social and psychologicalrnneeds. But the stigma and discrimination in the organizationsrnremained constant.
