This study examines the challenges of Customs on trade facilitation, specifically thernCustoms clearing process in Ethiopia. The study focuses on assessing to identifyrnproblems and the reason behind those problems, which have negative contribution on therntime length of clearing processrnThe study adopts a mixed method research approach to answer the research questionsrnthat come out from the review of the existing literature. Particularly, the study usesrnsurvey of employees of the Customs, importers, third parties clearing agents, interviewrnwith Customs officials and documentary analysis. The study statistically analysis the datarnbring forth from the survey. It also analysis the result of the interview with Customsrnofficials’ and inspection of documents held by the Customs office.rnThe result of this methodology shows that the Customs clearing time taken for arndocument is quite long in Ethiopia, which adversely affects the trade facilitation.rnMoreover, the problems for delays of clearing process and reason behind these problemsrnhave also identified.rnThe thesis forwards a series of measures to be taken by the authority (ERCA), importersrnand clearing agents
