Background: CAUTI is an infection caused by catheter-related during catheterization procedures.rnNurses are responsible for performing catheterization procedures strictly with sterile techniques.rnNurse’s knowledge, attitude, and practice are the primary input for preventing the patient fromrnCAUTI. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the KAP and its associated factors in CAUTIrnprevention among nurses. rnObjective. To assess knowledge, attitude, practice, and its associated factors related to catheterassociatedrnrnurinary tract infection prevention among nurses in public hospitals Addis Ababa,rnEthiopia, 2021. Method: Institutional-based cross-sectional study used. After selecting fivernhospitals from 14 public hospitals by lottery method the number of nurses in each hospital withrnrespective total number of nurse was calculated by proportion and total sample size was 352. Afterrngetting ethical clearance, One day training about the objectives of the study, data collection tool,rnmethods, and process of data collection was provided to data collectors and collected by three BScrnand one MSc supervisor nurses. The study was conducted on a total of 344 nurses. SPSS versionrn24 software used for data analysis. Descriptive statistics, binary and multivariate logisticrnregression performed. Statistical significance for possible associated factors tested using a p-valuern< 0.05 and CI 95%. Results. 57.3% of participants had poor knowledge, 55.7% of participantsrnhad a negative attitude, and 44.8% of the participants had an incompetent level of practice. Factorsrnassociated with knowledge included guideline availability in their institution. (AOR= 0.317, 95%rnCI, (0.121-0.832) P=0. 002). Factors associated with attitude included the marital status of thernparticipants (AOR=2.200(1.370-3.533) P=0.001), the knowledge of the participantsrn(AOR=0.462(0.283-0.754) P =0.002) and the practice of the participant (AOR=2.200(1.3703.533)rnrnP=0.001). Factors associated with the practice were the attitude of the participantrn(AOR=2.725, 95% CI (1.732 -4.287), P= 0.000) and the availability of guidelines in participants'rninstitution (AOR=2.360, 95% CI, (1.320- 4.219) P= 0.004). Conclusion and recommendation:rnThe overall results showed an unsatisfactory level of knowledge, a negative attitude towardsrnCAUTI prevention, and a somewhat good level of practice of nurses in CAUTI prevention. It isrnrecommended that there should be a guideline in each hospital, and nurses should get training tornincrease attitudes of nurses and knowledge of nurses towards CAUTI.
