The study aims at assessment of training and development practices inrnprivate organizations (case study on OMEDAD PLC) with due emphasisrnon practices of TD needs assessment, TD methods, and evaluation of TDrneffectiveness. Accordingly, all the necessary data has been gatheredrnfrom primary sources using questionnaires and interviews. Stratifiedrnsampling technique was used and the number of participants was 38rnmanager and non-manager employees. The researcher used descriptivernanalysis with the help of tables and percentages to analyze the data. Thernstudy revealed that the major weaknesses of the company in training andrndevelopment practices being lack of periodical and balanced method ofrnTD needs assessment, imbalance between on-the-job and off-the-jobrnmethod of trainings, absence of trainees evaluation practice at differentrnphases, and absence of evaluating the effectiveness of TD activities. Thernstrengths being practicality of technical trainings, cooperation ofrnexisting staff to train new employees, and belief of top level managementrnon the importance of TD to organizational performance. Hence, thernCompany need to keep up with its strengths and alleviate its weaknessesrnby adopting a systematic approach of TD practices.
