The chromic behavior of a compound is due to photochromism, thermochromisim, rnelectrochromism, solvatochromism, Ionochromism, halochromism, tribichromism andrnPiezochromism. The term solvatochromism is used to describe changes in Infraredrnvibrational band followed a change in the polarity of the media. Solvent effects on thernvibrational absorption band of nicotinamide in different concentration of binary mixturernof solvents were determined. In varying the mole fraction of binary mixture of solventsrnpositive and negative solvatochromism were observed according to the solvationrnenergy of the molecule at the ground states and excited states. The wavenumberrnfunctionality on mole fraction were obtained from the correlation graph. Solventrndependent solvation dielectric constant was determined from the correlation plots ofrnwavenumber as the function of dielectric constant mixture of binary solvents as solventrnpolarity parameter.
