Copper (II) complex of N, N-Bis (salicylidene)-2, 4-dihydroxy-5-rnacetylacetophenone dihydrazone (BSDAAD) was synthesized andrncharacterized by conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements, rnanalytical data, IR, UV-Vis and AAS spectroscopic techniques. The Schiffrnbase BSDAAD, was synthesized by the condensation of 2, 4-dihydroxy-5-rnacetylacetophenone dihydrazone (DAAD) and salicylaldehyde, andrncharacterized by MS, IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopic techniques. Thernligand behaves as symmetric, tetrabasic bis-tetradentate system throughrnONNO donor sequence. The coordination results in a distortedrn(elongation) octahedral geometry. Subnormal magnetic moment of therndinuclear complex suggests antferromagnetic interaction between thernmetal ion centers through a possible super exchange mechanism.
