The transfer of ions across the water/acetophenonerninterface has been investigated by ac cyclic voltammetry.rnThe reversibility of the ion transfer at low sweep rates, rnas well as precise half-wave potential values have beenrndetermined from the observed ac cyclic voltammograms.rnThe reversibility of the ion transfer across the water/rnacetophenone interface at 10Vi sweep rates has also beenrnfurther eetablished by using the dc cyclic voltammetricrntechnique. Values of standard Gibbs energies of transferrnfrom water to acetophenone for several ions havernbeen evaluated. These have been compared with theoreticallyrncalculated values for this system.rnSuch studies of ion transfer have been extendedrnfor the Vlater/nitrobenzene and water/chlorobenzene-nitrobenzenernmixture systems using dc cyclic voltammetry.rnThe values of the standard Gibbs energies of transferrnfor many ions obtained in these systems have beenrncompared with theoretically estimated values. Thernpresent experimental results for the water/nitrobenzenernsystem are in very good agreement with those calculatedrnfrom partition (extraction) experiments by otherrnworkers. Attempts have also been made to correlaternstandard Gibbs energies of transfer with the dielectricrnconstants of the organic mixtures.
