The release mechanisms, of the two organophosphorusrninsecticides, malathion and chlorpyrifos, were studied fromrnthe polymer films prepared in the Laboratory. Furthermore, rnthe behaviour of the release of chlorpyrifos from therngranular commercial sample was also studied.rnThus, the diffusion of the insecticides from therninsecticidal polymer films; cellulose acetate impregnatedrnwith chlorpyrifos, and cellulose acetate impregnated withrnmalathion, have shown the characterstic features of arnFickian diffusion, at higher temperature ( 100° C ), andrnthe apparent diffusion coefficients have been calculated.rnWhile, at temperatures lower than 100°c, the release hasrnshown a non-Fickian diffusion. On the other hand, thernrelease of chlorpyrifos from the polyethylene vinyl acetaterncoplymer and the Suscon polymer films have shown a non-rnFickian diffusion at all the temperatures of study (70°c,rn60°C, and 50°C).rnMoreover, the release behaviour of the Suscon commercialrnsample was studied at different conditions; in soil, water, rnand open air. And the release was found to be dependent onrnthe concentration of the insecticide, raihfall and temperature
