The purpose of this study was to examine the extent and problem o/specia/ needsrneducation provision for the blind in Sebeta and Wollayta ,I'choo/sfi)!" the blind andrnIhe implication on the process 0/ implementing the educational program in Ihernschools as well.rnTo canyout the study, relevant literature review was made on Ihe topic understudy.rnRe/ated documents were searched on teachers' level a/education, their professionalrnIraining, students' enrollment, school facilities, and .Ipecia/ instructional materialsrnand services from the two schools, department o/,Ipecia/ education at the Ministry 1)/rnEducation and the Ethiopian National Association/or the BlindrnThe subiects a/the study considered in collecting pertinent in/iJrmation were teachers,rnsludents and directors a/the two special schoolsfi)r Ihe blind.rnIn order to achieve the purpose of the study, .fimnal 'Iuestionnaire, interview, andrnschool observation were carried out. And the data obtained through these instrumentsrnwere analyzed using percentages.rnFinally, the .findings of the study revealed that the two ,Ipecial schools .fiJI' the blindrnhave difficulty in several basic factors ajjecting the education o/the children. Tornmention some: absence of specially modified curriculum, shortage 0/ professionallyrntrained teachers, inadequacy in the provision 0/ special instructional materials andrnservices, absence of mechanism .for classifying the two groups 0/ visuallyrnhandicapped children (the blind and the partially sighted) etc.
