Causes For Students Drop Out In Secondary Schools Of Jida Woreda

The main purpose of this study was to identify the major causes of students dropout inrnsecondary schools of Jida Woreda. In the study researcher used qualitative researchrnapproach . The qualitative data was collected using interview questions for parents, woredarneducation office vice head, principals of sample schools and focus group discussion tookrnplace with students and teachers and document analysis took place from different report ofrnschools. The analysis was performed using descriptive method. The results of the researchrnindicated that there are three main causes of student's dropout in the secondary schools,rnspecifically: they are:(i) social factors ( large family sizes, parental education level, homern/parental service , domestic work and agricultural activity).(ii) Economic factors ( cost ofrnuniform or clothe, cost of educational materials), (iii)Educational /school factors ( shortagernof class room ,poor infrastructures/poor facility, poor teaching and learning process.rnFinally, the combined effect of social, economic and educational or school factors wererncauses student's dropout from the school. Based on findings, it was recommended that allrneducational stake holders like: government, non-governmental organizations andrncommunity need to provided educational materials for the most marginalized or vulnerablernstudents and improve school facility .
