The purpose of this study was to assess the practices of school leadership in Oromia special zone surrounding Finfinne and to find the constraints and problems of school leadership and also to determine the alternative solutions for problems exists in the secondary schools. The descriptive survey design was employed to conduct the study. Participants of the study were 78 teachers and 12 principals by using sampling random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. The data was collected by using questionnaires and interview. Both qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods were employed in order to reach to the result. Four woreda education offices, four secondary school supervisors, and 4 PTA chairperson members were also involved purposively in the study. The statistics were entered into statistical package for social science (SPSS Version 25.0) software analysis. The data obtained through questionnaire were analyzed and summarized using statistical tools like frequency count, percentage; mean and standard deviation were conducted. The study dealt with examining and observing the actual practice and problems of school leadership in secondary schools of Oromia special zone surrounding Finfinne. The findings of the study revealed that the functions of school leadership were not well performed by each principals in the school, that is regular functions of school leaders planning, setting vision, setting goal, the capacity of lead, staff development, evaluation, supervision, research work, decision making, and communication. Furthermore, the study revealed that school leaders faced problems like overburdened administratively, lack of finance resources and lack of skills and training. Based on the findings it was conclude that schools in Oromia special zone surrounding Finfinne were not develop professional and leadership skills of school leadership. Finally, the following recommendations were forworded.These is to bring development and conducive environment in schools, involvements and participation of stakeholders is essential. Therefore it is recommended to give opportunity to stakeholders to participate and give responsibilities in coordinating parents, students, teachers, school board, PTA and different organizations(NGO’s).It is advisable that school leaders exercised participatory problem solving approach because participatory decision making build and maintain a trusting and conducive environment in which teachers feel free and comfortable to be performed well the desired objectives is better to recommend providing opportunities of training experience exchanging for school leadership that constraints to implement the school leaders practices.
