Contribution Of School Leaders Styles Of Leadership To Effectiveness In The Secondary Schools Of The Hadiya Zone Southern Nations Nationalities And Peoples Regional State
The purpose of the study was to examine the school leaders’ leadership style and its contributions to secondary school effectiveness. The study was conducted in Hadiya Zone Badewacho Woreda public secondary schools. Five secondary schools were taken as sample using purposive sampling technique. From sample schools school leaders, teachers, department heads, supervisors, and PTA heads were taken as a source of information, because these groups had a direct contact with leadership activities. All 30 educational leaders’ three supervisors five educational heads five PTA sample were drown by using purposive samplings technique in considering their position in their respective title. Teachers from the sample schools were drown using simple random sampling technique. Totally 108 respondents were included in the study. A questionnaire mainly made up of close-ended with five stage Likert rating scale were developed to collect data required to answer the basic questions in the chapter of this paper. Other alternative interview is used to substantiate the data collected through questionnaire. The descriptive analysis of collected data was analyzed using statistical tools of frequencies, percentage, mean, and t-test by using SPSS version 21 The major finding of the study, transactional leadership style is dominant than transformational leadership style as well as lassies-fair nowadays, Transformational leadership style is appropriate leadership style to achieve organizational goal and to ensure school effectiveness, inadequate budget, placement of school leaders and recruitment are factors which affect effectiveness of schools. The conclusion of the study was a leadership style of school leaders that enhance school effectiveness related with the transformational leadership style. However, respondents confirmed that the sample Woreda school leaders’ were not practiced this style or were at poorly implemented this style. Finally I recommended that, the WEO and ZED should work in collaboration with REB in giving appropriate training on the identified gap at the right time in order to ensure effectiveness of the schools.
